Robert Burns was Scotland’s favorite poet and lyricist. He was born on January 25, 1759, and died on July 21, 1796. He is viewed by most as the “national poet” of Scotland, and his birthday is celebrated world-wide each January 25.
Robbie Burns was part of the Romantic Movement, and his actions helped to inspire the founders of socialism and liberalism. In the 1950’s we celebrated his birthday with a large dinner in our church hall. Last year the Pastoral Care Core Ministry hosted a Potluck Supper featuring some traditional dishes, haggis and music.
You are invited to take part again, bringing a favourite dish to share. Plan to chase away the winter blues with a fun evening of good food, songs, music and little taste of haggis!
