On January 1st, 2020 First United Church will once again be hosting our annual New Year’s Day Dinner. It’s a wonderful tradition of radical hospitality where we welcome in the New Year with our downtown neighbours and friends by sharing together a delicious meal of turkey, roast beef, ham, veggies, homemade salads and desserts.
Interspersed throughout the evening are games, door prizes, friendly conversation, an opportunity to choose free garments in the “clothing room” and of course music! This important outreach to our community allows us to live out First United’s mission “to seek, know and express God’s love in an open community that embraces diversity”.
Last year we fed approximately 200 guests, with the incredible participation of many volunteers. We are once again looking for your help with food donations as well as with some of the many volunteer tasks required to make the New Year’s Day Dinner possible.
?There will be sign up tables following worship for the next few weeks or you can call/text Alyssa Campbell. We hope you will consider being part of this important tradition at First!
