Choirs
Those who sing pray twice. (St. Augustine)
Come join one of our amazing Choirs and experience the wonder of performing with one of the few pipe organs in the area.
The First United Children’s Choir is a group of young singers from Kindergarten to grade 7, who gather in the Sanctuary most Sundays after worship for 20 minutes of singing and fun. They share their musical gifts in worship periodically, especially on special Sundays and Christmas Eve. Random hymn picks and crazy tongue twisters are two favourite activities of the group. New members are always welcome. Contact: Frances Chiasson, Music Minister.
The Alleluia Singers is a diverse group of volunteer singers from the congregation who are committed to enhancing the life of our congregation through music. They provide musical leadership at the 10:00 Sunday worship services (Sept-May), plus special events. They rehearse on Thursday evenings (7-8:30 pm) in the sanctuary and each rehearsal is filled with laughter and joyful music making. New members are always welcome. Contact: Frances Chiasson, Music Minister.
Alleluia Ringers
First United’s bell choir (The Alleluia Ringers) rehearses Sunday afternoons from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. We generally perform on the last Sunday of each month. We are one of only a handful of five octaves choirs in BC, and we love to ring! New Members are welcome, but previous bell experience or musical knowledge is required. Contact: Nikki, our Conductor at [email protected] for more information. Hear our bell choir play.
If you’d like to try ringing or can’t make a full-time commitment to the Alleluia Ringers, the Grace Notes is an ad hoc bell choir of less experienced ringers or those new to the art. We play two or three times per year, rehearsing the three Sundays prior to our scheduled performance. Contact Nikki if you’re interested.
